Risk Disclosure

Understanding the risks of banking and investment services

General Investment Risk

All investments involve risk, including the possible loss of principal. The value of your investments and the income derived from them may go down as well as up. Past performance is not indicative of future results.

Specific Risk Categories
Market Risk

The risk that the value of your investments will decrease due to movements in market factors including interest rates, foreign exchange rates, equity prices, or commodity prices. Market volatility can result in substantial losses in short periods.

Credit Risk

The risk that a borrower or counterparty may fail to meet their obligations, resulting in financial loss. This applies to bonds, loans, and derivative instruments where counterparty performance is required.

Liquidity Risk

The risk that you may not be able to buy or sell investments quickly enough to prevent or minimize a loss. Some investments may have limited liquidity, making it difficult to exit positions at desired prices.

Currency Risk

When you hold assets in foreign currencies or invest in foreign markets, exchange rate fluctuations can affect the value of your investments when converted back to your base currency. This risk can be significant for international portfolios.

Operational Risk

The risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events. While we maintain robust systems and controls, no system is completely immune to operational failures.

Risk Mitigation

We encourage all clients to diversify their portfolios, understand their risk tolerance, and seek professional financial advice when appropriate. Our relationship managers are available to discuss risk management strategies suitable for your circumstances.

Early Withdrawal Penalty: Withdrawing from fixed-term deposits before maturity results in forfeiture of 90 days of interest or all accrued interest, whichever is less.
